DON’T BE DRIVEN TO DISTRACTION

In Oregon as well as nationwide, statistics show that drivers
16-20 years old are involved in
fatal and injury crashes at over
twice the rate of the population
as a whole. One of the major
contributing causes of crashes
is distraction.
Operating a vehicle requires a
lot of focus, and using cell
phones behind the wheel creates
a dangerous distraction,
especially for inexperienced
drivers. To prevent injuries
and deaths among teenagers,
Oregon has recently passed a new
law which makes it illegal for
drivers less than 18 years of
age to use a mobile
communications device, including
talking or texting while
driving.
It’s dangerous enough out there
without adding the distractions
of talking and texting. And
now, Oregon law makes it a
violation for drivers under the
age of 18 to operate a mobile
communication device, including
talking or texting on the cell
phone, while driving.
