I wanted to take a minute and welcome all of you back to
school. The summer went by fast but we were able to
accomplish quite a bit during the time we had. My thanks to
the maintenance and transportation crew for getting the
building and buses into such great shape and a special
thanks to Tony for the additional work on the bleachers in
the gym.
We currently
have 82 students enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth
grade. There are 15 students in the boarding facility along
with Dan and Cindy Simpson our new dorm parents. We are
also welcoming two new teachers this year, Rebecca Verhoeven
our new Spanish teacher provided by the ESD and Lana Clark
our new Voc-AG/FFA teacher. Along with our returning staff
we are looking forward to a great year.
There will
be new diploma requirements that will be phased in over the
next six years with the first changes beginning for our
graduating class of 2010. We will be sending information in
an upcoming newsletter. These changes will not impact
Paisley School District as much as other districts because
Paisley’s requirements are already above the state minimum
requirements. The changes are in the areas of English, Math
and Career Education.
Work
continues on the school radio station, KPAI-LP Paisley 103.1
FM. Thanks to a grant from the Meyer Memorial Trust we were
able to upgrade our studio equipment and are in the process
of installing a new mast and antenna that should increase
both our range and signal quality.
Also take a
look our newly restructured website at
www.paisleyschool.com. Our hope is the website will
offer one more way to stay in touch with parents and
students.
Again
welcome back, we hope to see all of you at the BBQ and Open
House on Thursday, September 11, 2008.
